How to Sideload Android Apps on Windows 11
With the right tools, you can get unsupported Android apps up and running on Windows 11. Windows 11 can run Android apps as if they’re native PC software, but only a handful are officially supported at the time of this writing. However, there’s a way to sideload unsupported apps to Windows 11, similar to how you can install third-party apps on your Android phone. You’ll need a few things to pull this off. First, you’ll need to be in the Windows 11 Insider Program and have the Windows Subsystem for Android app installed. You can find out more information about joining the beta from Microsoft’s announcement blog post. Second, you’ll need to install Android Debug Bridge (ADB) on your PC. We have a guide for installing ADB on Windows 10, and the process carries over to Windows 11. Third, you need the APK files for the apps you want to install. You can find these from trusted sources like APK Mirror, APKPure, F-Droid, Github, or the XDA Developer forums. Just make sure you download legitimate files (meaning non-pirated) from websites you know are safe. Bootleg APKs can be riddled with malware or hosted on unsafe domains, and downloading pirated software is, y’know, illegal. Finally, you may also need to sideload the MicroG APK in order to use apps that check for Google Play Services verification. MicroG is open-source software that essentially replicates Google’s services so you can use apps on otherwise unsupported devices. This is an optional step, and you’ll have to install MicroG using the steps below, but it’s necessary if you want to run any Google apps or apps that depend on Play Store verification. With those prereqs out of the way, let’s get those apps sideloaded. It may look complicated at first glance, but it’s pretty quick to pull off once you know the process. To start, open the Windows Subsystem for Android from the Windows 11 Start menu under the “All Apps” section. In the Windows Subsystem for Android setting window, find and turn on “Developer Mode.” Open the “Files” window at the top of the settings menu to open Android on your PC. Back in the settings menu, scroll down and click “Refresh” next to the IP Address option (it’s right beneath the Developer mode toggle). Once the IP Address appears, click “Copy.” Next, open Windows Terminal as an admin. Go to Start Menu > All Apps. Hover your mouse cursor over “Windows Terminal” then select More > Run as administrator. In the Windows Terminal window, type the command adb connect (IP address) using the IP address from steps 4 and 5. It should look like adb connect 1234.5.6.7 Press Enter to run the command. If everything worked, you should see “connected to [IP address].” We can now sideload APK files saved on your computer to run on Windows Subsystem for Android. Back in the Windows Terminal window, type the command adb install followed by the folder pathway and filename in quotation marks. For example, the full command may look like adb install “C:\com.whatsapp_2.21.21.15-212115005_minAPI16(x86_64)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com” If everything is correct, you’ll see “Performing Streamed Install” in Windows Terminal once the installation is started, and “Success” once it’s complete. And that’s it. The app is now installed on your PC. Like other Android apps, you can run sideloaded apps from the Windows 11 Start Menu. They will be listed under “all apps.” Double click to run the app and it will open in its own app window. If for some reason the app isn’t working, try installing MicroG as recommended above. Or, you can try running the app through an Android emulator on Windows instead.
WhatsApp will stop for you! Do you have these phones? Check list and how to fix
WhatsApp support is being stopped for a number of older smartphone models, which have been bought by millions of people. WhatsApp support being revoked is effective from November 1. WhatsApp orders will apply to both Android and iOS smartphones. Here are all the details and how to try and fix the problem. WhatsApp has been steadily getting a slew of updates to make the chatting experience better than ever. Most of these features are reliant on the latest Android and iOS software, and in order to have the same experience for everyone, WhatsApp keep dropping support for older OS as time passes. And as part of this practice, WhatsApp has again dropped support for a few older smartphones. As part of the next move, WhatsApp will now not be supported on Android devices still running on Android 4.0.3. On the iOS side of things, iPhones running on iOS 9 too will not get support. The support will be dropped starting November 1 but users won’t be immediately unable to use the service; it will keep working until the next major WhatsApp update drops. WhatsApp support dropped on these phones Now, Android 4.0.3 was available on a lot of Android devices back in its heydays. Hence, there are a lot of smartphones that will be affected by this move. Some of the popular ones from Samsung include the Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy Trend 2, Galaxy Trend Lite, Galaxy XCover 2, Galaxy Core, and Galaxy Ace 2. Similarly, a lot of smartphones from the 2011-2013 era will lose the support of WhatsApp in the next few weeks. However, the chances of most of you using any of these smartphones are slim, especially in 2021. Hence, you needn’t worry too much about the drop in support. However, if you decided against updating your iPhone 6S since you first started using it in 2015 for some reason, now might be the right time to get that iOS 15 update. WhatsApp will drop support for iOS 9 devices but the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are compatible with the latest iOS 15 update. Notably, what people with older Android phones can do to keep running their WhatsApp account is to also try and update their phones’ software. However, the chances of a fix are slim. Meanwhile, WhatsApp has just released the ability to join video and audio calls in a group even after it has started. If you update to the latest version of WhatsApp, you can now see the group chat notification in your WhatsApp group and you can join in at your convenience. How to create a wireless hotspot in Windows 10
To create a wireless hotspot in Windows 10: Launch the Settings app. Navigate to Network & Internet > Mobile hotspot. Use the controls to configure the network settings. Toggle the “Share my Internet connection with other devices” button to “On”. You can use your Windows 10 PC to host a wireless hotspot for your other devices. Windows has built-in support for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth hotspots (provided your PC has hardware for both), so you’re able to connect a wide selection of phones and tablets. To configure your hotspot, first, open the Settings app and click the “Network & Internet” category. Select the “Mobile hotspot” page from the navigation menu at the side. The settings should be fairly self-explanatory. First, you need to select the network adapter whose Internet connection you want to share. On a desktop PC, this may be an Ethernet port. If you’re using a tablet with mobile connectivity, you might want to share its LTE connection. Select the relevant adapter from the list using the dropdown menu. Next, decide whether to host the hotspot using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. You should generally choose Bluetooth unless the device you’ll be connecting does not support Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi offers transfer speeds far in excess of Bluetooth, making it better suited to Internet traffic. You should now take the time to customise the name and password for your hotspot. Click the Edit button to change these options. The network name is what devices will display when scanning for available connections. Make sure you use a strong password to prevent any unwanted intrusions. The final button on the page, “Turn on remotely,” can be used to make Windows enable your hotspot on-demand. Client devices can request the hotspot is turned on, even if it’s disabled in Windows settings. This only works if the device is already paired with your PC over Bluetooth, so it has a way of communicating with Windows. Only some devices, such as Windows 10 Mobile phones, are compatible. Finally, toggle the “Share my Internet connection with other devices” button at the top of the page to the “On” position. This will activate your hotspot. After a few moments, it should show up as a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth network on your other devices. Connect using the password you configured above. When you’re connecting with another Windows 10 device, your hotspot will show up in the networking menu in the system tray. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom-right and wait for the networks list to populate. After a few moments, your hotspot should appear, named with the label you assigned back on the Settings page. Click the network to enter the password and connect. Once your hotspot is active, you get access to a new option, “Power saving.” This allows Windows to automatically turn off the hotspot if no devices have been connected for a period of time. This saves power and lowers the security risk of your device publicising an available hotspot. You can disable the hotspot at any time to disconnect all the devices. You don’t need to open the Settings app as there’s a Quick Action tile available in Windows 10’s Action Centre – press Win+A to open Action Centre and then click the “Mobile hotspot” tile to turn off the feature.

Our founder and CEO reveals our next project (Local Internet) on social media.
Our founder and CEO reveals a tip on our upcoming project title local internet. The project seeks to reduce the amount of data usage and the high cost of the internet bundle. We believe access to information and resources should not be very expensive to access. The cost of internet and connectivity challenges in remote areas in Ghana makes it difficult to fully utilised the numerous benefit the internet brings. As indicated by our founder in his post below: We at Gift-Tech Solutions believe that various technological tools can help create a localised subweb (local internet) such as Metropolitan or Municipal Area Network (MAN), District Area Network (DAN) or Campus Area Network (CAN) that allow us to duplicate the resources on the internet for local consumption without the user having to buy expensive data bundles to access poor network connectivity just to learn, watch videos, listen to music, or even download resources. You might think this is impossible or the technology does not exist, but the good news is that the technologies both software and hardware exit, and can easily be purchase. What is left is the funding or capital to implement the project. We have already started but we need support to purchase more hardware and do more testing in terms of access, connectivity, security among others. With these solutions, our founder Emmanuel Preko Boamah believes that we can create e-learning platforms for Ghanaian students in various communities without creating an extra burden of internet cost on parents or users. Follows us on all our social media handles for more updates.
